Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

This past Thursday was a very special "Girls Night Out" for me, my mom and Audrey.  As part of an early "birthday gift" for my mom, she got us tickets to see the broadway musical Mary Poppins.  I didn't tell Audrey about it until the day of because she is still learning the concept of time and if you tell her about something too early she will ask if it's going to happen about every 5 seconds!  Needless to say she was very excited to get to go see a play and stay out late on a school night.

We started out our night with dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory.  Audrey had never been there and it has been years since I was last there so that was lots of fun.  We had to go for an early dinner because the NCAA basketball tournament was also in Louisville and traffic and restaurants downtown were very crowded and busy.

YUM! Spaghetti

Beautiful ceiling and chandeliers

We even shared a dessert 3 ways!
Next it was on the the Center for the Arts to see the Broadway Musical Mary Poppins! Unfortunately, it was raining and we had one umbrella for 3 people and about 5 blocks to walk, I mean run, to get there without getting completely soaked.  Once we were in and dry, we found our seats quickly and we had a great view of the stage.  I have to admit that I was just as excited as Audrey :)

The show was absolutely brilliant and we loved every minute of it.  Audrey's face was priceless with all the special effects (Mary Poppins flying, Bert walking on the ceiling, ect...) There were a few new songs that were not in the Disney movie and I have to say that personally, I preferred the Broadway show over the original movie.  I know, your thinking how can that be?, but it's just my personal opinion.  No show is ever complete without a token souvenir, so we let Audrey pick whatever she wanted (within reason, these souvenirs were extremely over priced, or I just don't get out enough).  So, her was her choice.....

That's right folks, it's the Mary Poppins umbrella that she is always carrying around.  We will have fun pretending with this souvenir :)

disclaimer: All pictures were taken on my iphone and are a little blurry :(
